8/11 The river is rising quickly.  We advise that all river users wait until the river crests to make a determination to contumue.  Young kids and those with no experience should reschedule their trip.  Please refer to this web after 11 for updates or check this chart:  

Dangerous conditions can exist or occur on any segment of the river.  

Know before you go.  Check weather & river conditions.  Avoid fallen trees and other obstacles in the river.  Wear your PFD!

The Saco River Recreational Council is committed to the protection of the Upper Saco River  through the promotion of responsible outdoor recreational practices. 

A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the SRRC provides trip-planning information, cleans the river on a weekly basis, funds the presence of local law enforcement, and works to prevent the spread of invasive species.

Please join us in working to preserve the river for everyone to enjoy.

Life jackets are required on the Saco River and all Maine waterways.

Thank you to all our volunteers for a successful September Cleanup!

140 volunteers helped to clean 35 miles of the river.

Join Us ths Fall.  

Fees - Parking $20 per day, Larger Vehicle or trailer $25. Access fee $5pp, (no parking). Camping $20 pp/per day, 10 & under free (+ Maine lodging tax).   Youth & nonprofit rates available by calling our office.  

High Water / Potential for High Water.  Use Caution!  

This season, the Saco River has been running much higher than average.  Please check conditions before going on the river.  Additional rains will cause the river to rise to a possible unsafe level for recreational use.  Call our office or local outfitter FMI.
