The Saco is a natural environment & hazards exist. Wear your PFD!
Be alert for obstacles in the river. Pull out of the river and scout sections that cannot be seen well.
Watch for and avoid strainers, (fallen trees) in the river.
Know before you go. Check river and weather conditions. Be aware of changing river conditions.
Use caution approaching Swans Falls Dam from upriver loactions. Take out on the river-right, well above the dam.
Know where you are on the river and the quickest way to get to the next takeout.
The Saco River Recreational Council is committed to the protection of the Saco River from Center Conway, NH to Hiram, Maine through the promotion of responsible outdoor recreational practices.
A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the SRRC provides trip-planning information, cleans the river on a weekly basis, funds the presence of local law enforcement, and works to prevent the spread of invasive species.
